SEO Interview Questions

Posted by: sarathks on: August 26, 2009

You could be the best SEO in the world but unless you can convince the interviewer of this then you will never get that dream job. Whilst listing competitive keywords and their rankings on your CV is a good place to start, most employers will expect you to be able to confidently and competently discuss your knowledge, techniques and opinions at interview.

Tests will be written or verbal and are there to help them establish that you are the best person for the job.

Below is a copy of a post from http://forums.seo.ph/showthread.php?t=201. I don’t expect any Company to throw this many questions at you but you never know which ones they will ask – why not browse through them and see how many you can answer?

11 Ways to Find Brands & Companies on Twitter

Posted by: sarathks on: March 12, 2009

A big question for marketers that want to connect with businesses on Twitter is that they often don’t know where to look.  Part of the rub is that Twitter is predominantly a service used by individuals, not companies.   While you can use search.twitter.com advanced features to find individuals using specific criteria, it can be more productive for finding companies or commercial users of Twitter via a managed list.

Here are a few resources for finding Twitter accounts for brands, companies, executives, analysts and journalists via directories and lists.

Twibs
Twibs.com – Alphabetical Directory and search engine of 5,368 businesses on Twitter with a voting option to see which profiles are featured on the home page. Each business Twitter account has a profile showing latest Tweets and others’ Tweets about that user.

How Do You Earn Search Engines’ Trust?

Posted by: sarathks on: March 6, 2009

Aaron Wall: Most signals of quality for search are driven to some degree by trust. People are more likely to read your site, subscribe to your site, and link to your site if they trust you. In an interview Bob Massa once said, “search engines follow people.” If enough people care about what you are doing, then search engines will usually trust it, too.

Kim Krause Berg: When someone claims to be a teacher or advisor, I want to know how long they’ve been in the business, and what makes them credible. Search engines do the same thing in their way. How long has a domain been up and stable? What kinds of sites link to your site? These can be testimonials on your behalf. It’s hard to earn back search engine trust if you’ve messed up but if you maintain trust, search engines can be very loyal.

Eric Lander: Trust will come through tried and true techniques. Quality, valuable content is still one of the most important factors. Beyond that, though, you are going to need authoritative and relevant inbound links in order to strengthen your trust in any particular vertical.

Dr. Michael Dorausch: We do really well on content creation and image related traffic. We constantly strive to see that our content is unique, made as granular as seen fit, and images are properly described, tagged, and suitable to the post. After a decade of creating content, I’ve learned that both forms of visitors — search engine bots and humans — appreciate and reward those efforts.

Srilankan team attacked in lahore

LAHORE, Pakistan: Masked gunmen launched a brazen attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in the Pakistani city of Lahore on Tuesday, killing at least eight people and wounding seven cricketers, police said.

Gunmen attacked the team’s convoy near the Gaddafi stadium with rockets, hand grenades and automatic weapons, triggering a25-minute gunbattle with security forces, said Lahore police chief Habib-ur Rehman.

“They appeared to be well-trained terrorists,” said Rehman, who gave no details about the fate of the estimated 12 gunmen.

Witnesses said the upmarket district Lahore’s Liberty Square, home to many designer boutiques, was turned into a battlefield as gunmen hidden behind trees opened fire.

“There was a blast first, then we heard firing. A rocket launcher was also fired at the bus which narrowly missed,” a Sri Lankan player said on condition of anonymity.

Australian freelance cameraman Tony Bennett said people inside the stadium heard explosions followed by bursts of machine gun fire.
